HANGZHOU, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official has stressed the study and publicity of the Red Boat Spirit to motivate cadres and the masses to make unremitting efforts in fulfilling the tasks set by the 19th CPC National Congress.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a symposium on the Red Boat Spirit, held in Jiaxing in east China's Zhejiang Province on Monday.

Wang also stressed the study and implementation of the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

"The Red Boat Spirit, which highlights pioneering work, striving spirit and dedication, is the spiritual impetus for the Party to strive for development and growth," Wang said. "It is also the spiritual treasure of the Party to rule the country and make it prosperous, and serves as the spiritual support for the Party to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics."

Wang called for strengthening theoretical study and increasing publicity of the Red Boat Spirit and other revolutionary spirit, and educating the people with the spirit and guiding them with the spirit in practice.

Huang Kunming, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the symposium.

Prior to the meeting, attendees visited a replica of the boat, now referred to as the Red Boat, on which CPC founders convened a historic meeting in 1921.
